Those of you who attended Porsches on the Plaza last month know what a great annual event this has become; be sure not to miss it next year. Between the PCA National Charity Subsidy, and fees from the event we raised $1390 for CASA. Thanks to all who participated. Special thanks to Heloisa Heinen (and her Husband) from CASA who took this opportunity to share their good work with the attendees. Also big thanks to Kurt Fischer and Joe Burroughs for once again putting together a great time for all. One additional huge thank you to Deven Wailes for hosting another fantastic after event party!

Another event that many of you took the opportunity to attend was our now annual drive to, and lunch/wine-tasting, at Field Stone Winery at the southern end of Alexander Valley. Word must have gotten out from last year. We had 72 members attend and all were very happy with the food and Field Stone's fabulous wines. Thanks go out to Kurt Fischer, David Bunch, and Don Magdanz who helped shepherd our two run groups to the event. No lost sheep, and both groups arrived within 5 or so minutes of each other. Just like last year Field Stone's staff and volunteers were friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable.

Well after a year of talking about it, and one false start, I finally did a track weekend. Many of you have done track days and now I can count myself among you. WOW! WHAT A BLAST! I am definitely hooked. I am so very pleased that my first time was at Thunderhill, and on the extended track. Two miles have been added to the original three, and the new (western) section is a different world from the original. The extension is much tighter, and it takes a while to develop a flow through the short straights and tight curves which include three hairpins. Hats off to the DE crew at GGR, they all did a fabulous job. My instructors were friendly, communicative and knowledgeable. Soloing on my second day gave me plenty of seat time to practice what I had learned. I have signed up for the next GGR DE at T-Hill (September 6/7), and encourage any of you who are interested to do so as well. This may be the last time the GGR rents both sections of track as the fee is twice as much as for just the eastern section. The charge to participants is the same as for the original three miles. Come out and join me, I know you won't regret it.

After all this praise of HPDE (High Performance Driver Education) track events, I want to be sure not to forget autocross, which I have been encouraging participation in since my first President's Message. The August 9th AX will be over by the time you read this. That leaves only the September 6th, October 4th, and November 1st events for this year. I truly feel that all my autocrossing over the past 6 years is what prepared me to have such a great time at Thunderhill. Don't miss out on the most fun you can have in your car for only $35. Sign up for one of our remaining events.

The end of this month will bring us to our annual Redwood Region Pool Party. This year the party will be at a new location, the beautiful and spacious home of recent region member Al Mueller. Al graciously offered his residence when the continued use of the Bergman estate came into question. Please join me in thanking not only Al, but also and very importantly, John and Wynne Bergman for the years they have hosted this party in the past.

That's all for now.  Down the road.

Vern
